Review of Adolescent Idiopathic Scoliosis Surgical Cases

The surgical procedure is individualized for each patient. Here are examples of scoliosis patient's that Dr. Pashman has treated.

Posterior Spinal Fusion


     
 
Example #1:
A 20 year old female with 78° King III curve. Treated with an posterior spinal fusion using pedicle screws. Review her case






Example #2:
A 19 year old female with progressive adolescent idiopathic scoliosis. The curvature progressed from 40° to 51° despite bracing. She was treated with a posterior spinal fusion T2-L1. Review her case.


 
Example #3:
A 27 year old female with adolescent idiopathic scoliosis, failed to fuse, and developed Flatback Syndrome. Post status two scoliosis surgeries. She was treated with a posterior spinal fusion T3-L2.

Example #4:
A 22 year old female with adolescent idiopathic scoliosis. The curvature progressed from 36° to 61° despite bracing as a teenager. She was treated with a posterior spinal fusion T2-L1. Review her case.

14 year old female with adolescent idiopathic scoliosis. The curve progressed to 65° despite bracing. She was treated with a posterior spinal fusion and had complete correction of her curvature.

13 year old female with adolescent idiopathic scoliosis. Presented with a 52° progressive curve. Treated with a posterior fusion T3-L1

19 year old female with progressive adolescent idiopathic scoliosis. She presented with a 75° curve. Treated with a posterior fusion T3-L1.

14 year old female with progressive Adolescent Idiopathic Scoliosis. She presented with a 51° curve. Treated with a posterior fusion T3-L1.

21 year old male with progressive Adolescent Idiopathic Scoliosis. He presented with a 19°curve which progressed to 50°. Treated with a posterior fusion T3-L1.

12 year old female with Adolescent Idiopathic Scoliosis discovered during school screening. She presented with a 70° thoracic curve and 65° lumbar curve. She was treated with a posterior fusion T3-L4.

17 year old female with Progressive Adolescent Idiopathic Scoliosis. She presented with a 36° thoracic curve which progressed to 48°. She was treated with a posterior fusion T3-L1.

A 15 year old male golfer, presented with a progressive 58° thoracic curve. He was treated with an Anterior Interbody fusion T9-L1.

Anterior Spinal Fusion

     
Example #1:
A 13 year old girl presented with 59° left lumbar curve treated with an anterior spinal fusion L1-L3.

A 15 year old male with a 49° right thoracic king type III progressive curve treated with a short segment anterior spinal fusion T6-T10. Review his case

A 12 year old female with a 50° right thoracic King type III curve treated by an anterior spinal fusion.

Example #4:
20 year old female with a 48° primary thoracolumbar curve with a compensatory 34° thoracic curve treated by a thoracolumbar anterior spinal fusion. Review her case. Read her journal about having scoliosis surgery . Read her follow-up journal about life 4 years after scoliosis surgery .

Example #5:
A 14 year old female presented with a progressive 45° thoracolumbar curve with a compensatory 37° proximal thoracic curve treated by a thoracolumbar short segment anterior spinal fusion from T12-L2.

A 16 year old female with Adolescent Idiopathic Scoliosis. Her curve progressed to 50° despite bracing. She was treated with an Anterior Interbody fusion from T11 to L3.
